About mikel

Photo of Mikel Feile sitting in a cafe having coffee.

H. Mikel Feilen began his artistry at a young age. Mikel’s classmates always remembered him because of two things:

  1. All his school notebooks were covered in weird and fun art.
  2. He was the kid in school who had seizures.

In 1970, at just 15, Mikel was diagnosed with epilepsy and thought his life was over. But he found that life was still filled with beautiful things despite the challenge he faced.

If there is one positive outcome from his journey with epilepsy, it is the remarkable evolution of his art into a vibrant new style he proudly names “Brain Disorder Art.”

In the 80s, Mikel began his painting adventure. He loved the new form of expression and started experimenting with oils, watercolor, and acrylic paints.

His watercolors were wild and abstract. After some time experimenting, he settled down with watercolor. He said he loved the way the colors flowed and blended with each other.

More recently, Mikel has discovered acrylic pouring and mixed media art. His love for the arts shows in everything he does.

He is a retired ballroom dancer of 50 years. Mikel wrote the news for CBS. He has been drawing for more than 60 years and, now at 70, is showcasing his newfound passion for fluid art.
